During World War II, A. Lange & Söhne emerged as a primary supplier of military watches, particularly for the German Luftwaffe. Notably, they produced the Beobachtungsuhr navigator's watch, commonly referred to as the 'B-Uhr', tailored to precise design specifications suitable for aircraft navigation.

Characterized by its large alloy casing measuring 55mm in diameter and an extended strap designed to accommodate the navigators' leather jackets, these watches featured a prominent crown on the right side, facilitating operation even when wearing gloves.

Each 'B-Uhr' watch boasted hacking seconds for precise synchronization, was chronometer-rated for accuracy, and featured dials resembling those found in aircraft cockpits. This meticulous attention to detail underscored Germany's commitment to technological advancement and precision in wartime operations.
