Notable among its creations are the iconic Fifty Fathoms diving watch, introduced in 1953, and the prestigious 1735 Grande Complication wristwatch, unveiled in 1991.
Founder Jehan-Jacques Blancpain's journey from teaching to designing pocket watch components laid the foundation for the brand's enduring legacy. In 1983 and 1991, Blancpain underwent significant changes when it was acquired and subsequently repurchased by SSIH for 60 million Swiss Francs, later becoming an integral part of the renowned Swatch Group.
