Doxa

Founded in 1889 by Georges Ducommun, Doxa initially specialised in crafting dress watches and other timepieces. Over time, the company expanded its operations and ventured into various segments of the timekeeping industry.

During the late 1960s, Doxa embarked on the development of a diving watch. Extensive testing revealed that an orange dial offered superior visibility in murky underwater conditions. Collaborating with prominent figures in diving, including Jacques Cousteau, then chairman of "U.S. Divers," and Claude Wesly, Doxa assembled a team of engineers and professional divers to create the Sub300t watch. This timepiece, distinguished by its orange face, was procured in significant quantities by U.S. Divers for distribution in the United States.

The Doxa Sub300t features a rotating bezel adorned with the official US Navy air dive table for no-decompression dives. Subsequently, other watchmakers introduced similar bezels. Notably, this watch facilitates the calculation of decompression times and provides divers with valuable information for underwater exploration.
