Elsa Peretti
Elsa Peretti, born in Florence in 1940, was a pioneering designer celebrated for her revolutionary contributions to fashion and jewellery.
Renowned for her collaborations with fashion icons like Halston and Giorgio di Sant'Angelo, Peretti swiftly transitioned from modelling to design. By 1971, she had already earned the prestigious Coty American Fashion Critics Award.
In 1974, Peretti joined Tiffany & Co., where she redefined silver jewellery with her innovative designs. Her creations, spanning jewellery, accessories, and tableware, showcased a unique blend of materials, earning her widespread acclaim.
Throughout her career, Peretti garnered numerous accolades, including the President's Fellow award from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1981 and the Council of Fashion Designers of America Accessory Designer of the Year award in 1996.
In 1990, her influence was commemorated with her first retrospective exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. In 2001, Peretti's remarkable legacy was further honoured with an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from FIT.
