Harry Winston
Renowned American jeweller Harry Winston (March 1, 1896 – December 8, 1978) made significant contributions to the world of gemstones and philanthropy. In 1958, Winston generously donated the iconic Hope Diamond to the Smithsonian Institution after possessing it for a decade.
Additionally, in 1963, he facilitated a notable trade with the Smithsonian, exchanging the Portuguese Diamond for 3,800 carats of smaller diamonds.
Establishing Harry Winston Inc. in New York City in 1932, Winston cultivated a reputation as a leading figure in the jewellery industry. Revered as the "King of Diamonds" by many, his legacy endures as a testament to his visionary contributions to the field.
