Takashi Murakami

Born in 1962, Murakami was raised in Tokyo, where he initially pursued a career in animation. Later, he earned a doctorate from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, drawing upon his background in traditional Japanese art to inform his contemporary creations.

In the 1990s, Murakami relocated to New York, further developing his skills as a contemporary artist. Upon returning to Japan, he established a workshop producing Murakami merchandise, drawing inspiration from artists like Jeff Koons. Additionally, he embarked on collaborations with renowned brands such as Issey Miyake and Louis Vuitton.
