Lot Description
A stainless steel manual wind military Omega watch head circa 1953, the matt black dial with white Arabic numerals supported by luminous dots at five minute intervals to the minute track, dial also marked 'T' beneath the signature, tonneau shaped case with integral lugs with case back referenced 6645 101000 above 6B/542 above 2439/53, all beneath the British broad arrow, case fitted with a signed 17 jewel calibre 283 numbered 13060547 concealed beneath dust cover. Case diameter 38mm.
This watch is thought to have been issued to the RAF by Omega in 1953. The 'T' mark to the dial refers to the use of tritium paint for the luminous markers. The 6645 at the beginning of the serial was used by NATO stores as the reference for a military watch, the 6B below can be associated to the RAF flying equipment code and finally the 53 at the end of the last line relates to 1953, the year of issue.
