Lot Description

George III silver cup of classic form with twin leaf capped handle and presentation engraving. Hallmarked London 1783, makers mark indistinct. Height measures 5 ½ inches (14 cm), weight 12.2ozt, (376 grams).

Overall the cup has wear commensurate with the age and use, there are general scratches, marks and tarnishing, numerous shallow dints and bumps, more noticeable dints to the base. The presentation engraving reads ‘Presented by T. Clarke Esq to Henry Robinson Esq 1847’. The hallmarks are part rubbed but easily legible. The makers mark is indistinct, the first letter is completely indistinct the second possibly K or an R.
