Lot Description

Edwardian silver jewellery casket, the open work hinged lid embossed with a central figurative and horse and carriage scene with scroll, cherub and bell surround opening to reveal a material lining, the body raised above four claw feet. Small personal engraving to the underside. Hallmarked William Comyns & Sons Ltd London 1904. Length measuring 7 1/2 inches (19 cm).

The casket is in very good condition, there are general scratches, marks and a little surface tarnishing. The interior shows some general wear and tear with areas of discolouration, the material has also come away from the edges of the silver. The lid when in a closed position rises. The underside is engraved '1951 To Nina with love from Uncle Hughie.'. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
