The cruet stand is in quite a poor condition, it is very tarnished, and all the parts would benefit from a clean. On the stand the metal does not fit flush to the wooden base, there are gaps all around the silver lip. The solder join to one side is becoming visible, and there is damage to the silver on both cartouches on either side of the stand, on one side the silver has worn through and there are solder marks where repairs have been done, and on the other side there are solder marks were crude repairs have been done, and there is a very small hole in one of these repairs. The silver is becoming thin and brittle. The hallmark is very rubbed and fairly illegible.

There looks to have been a major repair to the handle of the cruet stand where the very top piece has been crudely soldered on, resulting in loss of detail to this area. All the embossed detailing is very rubbed, particularly on the handle. There are gathered patches of polish in the detailing. The hallmark on the central section of the stand is barely legible.

The silver topped glass inserts are again very tarnished and the hallmarks on both are nearly illegible, the mustard pot has a poorly repaired hinge, so the lid wobbles from side to side, this is in need of further attention, it has a fair few dents and scratches as well. The pepper has gathered polish in the holes. There are some small nicks to the bottom rim of the silver pepper top.

All the glass inserts have abrasions, nibbles and small chips to the edges of the cut glass decoration, one insert has a large chip to the glass stopper and the rim of the bottle, and the stopper of another glass insert has the bottom section broken off.
