Lot 511
Lot Description
WWII German Luftwaffe Pilots & Observers badge, by C.E. Juncker, Berlin, a two piece rivet construction in nickel plated tombak in the main, taking the form of a large swooping eagle imposed upon a wreath of laurel and oak leaves. The back of the eagle is stamped with the makers mark CE Junker and Berlin SW. Wingspan 65mm, Wreath width 41mm.
CE Juncker badges are one of the more desirable and higher quality pilot badges. This is a later issue (the earlier badges having a pierced space between the eagle's legs). The eagle is fastened to the wreath via domed rivets, the pin is fastened to a barrel type hinge. The item is nickel plated ‘tombak’, the eagle being chemically darkened, whilst the wreath chemically frosted in matte silver, the highlights of the wreath brushed to a shine.

Condition Report
The item has good definition overall, especially to the finer points such as the eagles feathers and the details on the wreath. There is some deterioration to the darkened surface areas, noteably the eagle, being patchy and generally having a tarnished effect throughout, the pin and hook are still operational, the pin end does seem blunt with deeper marks.
