Lot Description

George III silver cream jug with engraved floral and acanthus leaf decoration, vacant cartouche to the front of the jug, crimped rim, leaf capped scrolling handle, raised on a circular base with tapered stem. Hallmarked Hester Bateman, London 1778. Height measures 4 1/4 inches (11 cm), weighing 2.42 ozt (75.2 grams).

The cream jug displays wear commensurate with the age and use with general scratches, marks, and tarnishing. There are a few small dints around the body. The cartouche is currently vacant. The hallmarks are partly rubbed but visible. The rim of the foot displays some distortion.
