Condition Report
The pair of early twentieth century silver gilt oval baskets are tarnished throughout. There is some build up of polish to detailing. Some tips of the openwork are slightly bent in and outwards but this is not very noticeable and could be easily rectified. They are both tamped to the base with GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS COMPANY 112 REGENT STREET W, this is over stamped on one of the baskets. The hallmarks are tarnished but clear and legible. They both wobble slightly on their feet. There are engravings to both cartouches on both baskets. one engraving reads '1st Guards Brigade GYMKHANA B.E.F.2-7-18 2 1/2 Mile Hurdle Race Open To VI CORPS' and 'the other 'WON BY Capt.J.R.Renwick's Border Chief Ridden By LT. Jock Ferguson.'
