Lot Description
A small selection of silver items to include a pair of silver sugar nips with bright cut engraved decoration and engraved monogram. Hallmarked Thomas Wallis (II) & Jonathan Hayne, also three silver condiment spoons, including a Newcastle example. Together with a late Victorian pickle fork, bright cut engraved decoration and mother of pearl handle, hallmarked Birmingham 1899, length measuring 14cm. A further novelty teaspoon with the figure of a golfer mid play cast into the bowl of the spoon, with initial and date engraving to the shaped terminal, and a silver knife rest with baluster shape stretcher, standing on scrolled feet. Condition Report
All pieces have general wear and tear scratches. The golf teaspoon has a dirty hallmark but it is still legible, there are a couple of small nicks around the rim of the bowl, and has a few more noticeable scratches.
The knife rest is very tarnished with some build up of dirt to the crevices. There are a lot of small scratches to the piece particularly around the edges of the scrolling ends. The hallmark is rubbed and tarnished but legible. It doesn't sit flat on its base.
The pickle fork is in a fair condition with some tarnishing, there are visible scratches and marks to the handle. The hallmark is clear and legible.
The condiment spoons are all very tarnished and dirty, and all the hallmarks are dirty and rubbed but legible.
The sugar nips are tarnished, the bright cut engraving is still detailed. The hallmark is rubbed but legible, the makers mark is half rubbed away.
