Condition Report
The Dognose spoon, thought to be eighteenth century appears in good condition commensurate with the age and use with general scratches and marks, shallow dinting to the bowl, a little pitting to the reverse of the bowl, the edge of the bowl is worn down from use, there is some rubbing to the Rat-tail. The first Trefid spoon is in quite poor condition with noticeable distortion and wear to the bowl,a split between the bowl and handle, the mark rubbed to the reverse of the stem. The third spoon is in very poor condition, seriously at fault.
With reference to the book Silver in the Channel Islands by Frederick Cohen & Nicholas Du Quesne Bird and published by Jersey Museum Service. Page 147, the makers mark PA to the Dognose spoon is tentatively attributed to Pierre Amiraux (I, II, III?), circa 1696-1808. The first Trefid spoon possibly with a rubbed mark of GS, Page 136, and the second Trefid spoon with the mark of Jacques Limbour, page 141.
