Lot Description

Georgian silver open salt of circular form, floral scroll embossing and raised above three hoof feet, hallmarked London date letter and makers mark indistinct. Together with an Edwardian silver oval example hallmarked Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd Sheffield 1909, with associated blue glass liner. Gross silver weight 2.76 ozt (85.8 grams).

Silver Salt- Circular

In good overall condition, much of the wear is in keeping with the age and use, with general scratches, marks and tarnishing. There are some small deeper scratches inside  and the underside the bowl. The legs are scratched and pit marked in places. The hallmark is indistinct.


Silver Salt- Oval

This example is worn and heavily tarnished but most of the scratching is light and in keeping with its age and use. There are some slightly deeper scratches on the underside. The blue glass liner has a scratch/ possible repair which appears as a deep line and is a noticeable imperfection. The hallmark is clearly legible but a little worn.
