Two mourning brooches, one carved jet brooch of oval design featuring a raised central foliate design, the other of yellow metal with a black enamel and seed pearl border surrounding a central panel of flaxen coloured hair. Diameter of jet brooch 5.5cm. Diameter of hair brooch 5.8cm.

The jet brooch has a number of large chips to the outside border, the hair brooch has suffered damage to the central panel, the original glass is missing and has been temporarily replaced by a thin plastic layer.
