Lot 590

Lot Description

An early 20th century 9ct gold keyless wind open face pocket watch signed Thomas Russell & Son, the white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial positioned to six o'clock, bordered by a minute track, plain case hallmarked Chester 1919, signed fifteen jewel movement numbered 316537, with partial train chaton jewelling, Breguet overcoil and Swiss lever escapement. Case diameter 54.5mm.

Movement is currently functioning, the balance appears to have a good action but the jewel holes appear dry and the watch would probably benefit from an overhaul. Case shows signs of general wear with light scratches, marks and tarnishing with some nicks to the case middle. Case would benefit from clean and a refinish. Glass has a variety of scratches with light chips to the edge of the glass. Dial possesses a hairline crack running from the centre to between the one and two o'clock positions. Hands look to be in a generally pleasing condition.
