Lot Description
Van Cleef & Arpels - a natural sapphire and diamond ring, circa 1960, the oval sapphire is in a four claw setting flanked by tapered baguette cut diamonds in a chevron design. Known sapphire weight 15.40cts, dimensions 15.3 x 12.8 x 8.2mm. Sapphire of Ceylon origin. Estimated total diamond weight 0.40cts. Stamped 3238 SO VCA NY. Weight 9.44gms. No evidence of heat treatment observed.

Condition Report
The ring is in overall good condition. The sapphire has a deep body colour with an uneven saturation. Windowing is visible thought the table facet when the table is turned. (Weaker colour can be seen to these areas). Several light feathers are present within the stone, visible with the unaided eye. Fine silk can also be seen. Nibbles and a small chip can be seen to the facet edges and girdle. A polish line can be seen to the table facet.
The diamonds are bright and lively. Light scratches and scuffs can be seen to the ring shank, general wear.

The mount is unhallmarked but testing as 18ct gold and platinum.
This is a natural sapphire with no evidence of heat treatment being observed.
