Lot Description
An early 20th century 15ct gold demantoid garnet diamond and split pearl set bug brooch, with an oval demantoid garnet and rose cut diamond body, split pearl set eyes and wings. Length of brooch 1.5cms, width 3.6cms. Weight 4.77 grams. With fitted box.

Condition Report
The brooch is in overall fair condition. There are easily visible horsetail inclusions to the demantoid garnet, with an easily visible to brown patch under the table facet, the garnet is chipped to both ends with abrasion to the facet edges, one facet is quite heavily abraded. The split pearls are all fairly well matched, one is damaged and cracked, a couple of others also have damage to the nacre. The central rose cut diamond is quite bright. There are slight scratches to the back of the brooch in keeping with slight wear, the pin and catch is secure. The box is worn in places.
