Lot Description
An early 20th century 18ct gold ruby and diamond half hoop ring, the three round cut rubies are interspaced by single cut diamonds with scrolling detail to the sides. Hallmarks for Birmingham 1917. Weight 4.1gms. One ruby possibly synthetic.

Condition Report
Overall fair to good condition, the settings are worn in places and may need attention, the rubies are not very well matched, an end ruby is a purpley/red, and is possibly synthetic, and has minor abrasion to the some of the facet edges and nibbles and a couple of small nicks to the girdle, it has a fairly even colour saturation. The central ruby is a slightly pinky/red, with minor abrasion and nibbles to some of the facet edges, mainly the central table facets, there is a surface reaching internal fracture to the girdle, there is a large chip to the pavillion facets as well as some smaller ones. The final ruby has a slightly hazy appearance and is an orangey/red with minor abrasion and nicks to the facet edges with angular colour zoning visible under 10x magnification, there are black and inclusions visible and a chip to the pavillion facet. Two of the diamonds have small chips to the girdles and one has a chip to the table facet. Ring size M.
