Lot Description
A Victorian hardstone cameo brooch circa 1880, the central oval brown hardstone cameo depicting Hestia, Greek Goddess of hearth and home, carrying an internal flame with an outer border of four principal old European cut diamonds interspaced by seed pearls and diamond points. Cameo engraved to reverse '1879 Filippo Tignani engraver Roma'. Length of brooch 4.2cms, width 3.2cms. Weight 18.13gms.

Condition Report
The brooch is in overall good condition. There are a couple of areas of damage to the cameo, a small section of the right foot has chipped away and the nose appears worn/possibly chipped. There are visible inclusions to some of the outer principal stones, visible without magnification. The seed pearls vary in shade, some more yellow others more pink, all with a fairly bright lustre many with imperfections to the nacre. The settings to the diamonds are diamond points may need to be checked. The signature to the back is nice and clear. There are slight scratches to the frame. The pin and catch is secure.
