Lot Description

George II pair of silver casters made by Samuel Wood of pear form, the bodies crested and raised above spread bases with detachable covers pierced with alternate diaper and stylised foliage panels. Hallmarked London 1746. Height measuring 5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm), gross combined weight 9.1 ozt (283 grams).

The casters display wear commensurate with the age and use with general scratches, marks and tarnishing. There are some minor dents visible and a split to an area of the pierced foliage. As mentioned in the description both have engraved crests. As commonly seen the hallmarks to the underside are distorted, but legible. Each also marked to the lid with the standard mark and makers' mark.
