Lot Description

William IV Irish silver open salt, with shaped, gadrooned rim above a continuous band of floral embossing with cartouche (crest worn), the whole on three paw feet with lion head terminals.  Hallmarked Patrick Loughlin Dublin 1833.  Diameter measures  2 3/4 inches (7cm), weight 3.05 ozt (94.88 grams).

Total lot weight: No

The salt displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  Some of these scratches and marks are more evident, especially to the interior.  There are some minor dints/pin prick marks to the underside. There is also a little tarnishing.  The embossed decoration is generally good but the crest in the cartouche is very worn.  The hallmarks are slightly worn but still clear and legible.
