Lot 26

Lot Description

A set of four late Victorian silver open salts, each of bulbous shape with flared scrolling rim and standing on a circular footed base, with further embossed scroll and foliate motifs to the main body surrounding putti at various activities and vacant cartouche.  Hallmarked David Bridge London 1892, also with the foreign mark.  Total combined weight 5.7 ozt (177.2 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All four salts display general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  There is some wear to the embossed decoration and also some tarnishing.  There are also some minor dints in the metal, especially around the rims.  One of the salts has a split in the metal on the flared rim.  The foot rims on all the salts are very slightly misshapen and a couple of the salts appear to be very slightly misshapen in the main body.  Some of the seam lines are visible.  Hallmarks are slightly rubbed but all still clear and legible.
