Lot 31

Lot Description

George II silver salver with scalloped and shell rim, inner engraved wrigglework borders and standing on three feet. Hallmarked Isaac Cookson Newcastle 1746. Diameter measuring 8 inches (20 cm), weight 9.6 ozt (299 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The salver displays general scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The salver does bear obvious solder to parts of the rim, causing some loss of the engraving, also to the underside further evidence of solder. It is likely that there has been a  armorial or engraving removed from the body as the silver is thin and also a ring visible to the underside. The hallmarks partly rubbed but easily legible.
