Lot 354

Lot Description

Turn of the century silver trinket box, the tortoise shell hinged lid inlaid with a silver festoon with engraved initials.  Hallmarked London, date letter and maker's mark indistinct. Diameter measuring 3 inches (7.5 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The item displays general wear, tarnishing and surface marks and scratches.  There are various small dints/nicks in the metal, especially around the rim of the lid.  There is some damage to the tortoiseshell with various scratches and marks.  On closer inspection, approximately 50% of the tortoiseshell is quite mottled.  The hinge is in good working order and the lid does close tightly but there is a small gap when closed.  Hallmarks are rubbed so that date letter and maker's mark are illegible.
