Lot Description
FABERGE - an early 20th century gold compact, of rectangular shape with opposed gathered pleat detail and a rose cut diamond thumbpiece. Marked Faberge with the workmaster's mark of August Frederick Hollming, St Petersburg, 1899 - 1903. Stamped 56 standard. Length 7.3cms, width 3.6cms. Weight 73.42gms. With a fitted case marked Wartski.

Condition Report
The compact is in overall good condition. There are slight scratches to all of the casing in keeping with the age of the piece, the diamond points to the thumb piece are fairly bright, the claws may need to be checked. The inner mirror is fine. The inner makers mark is nice and clear, the 56 stamp is a little rubbed. The inner mesh panel is in good condition. The hinge is fine there is some discolouration surrounding the thumb piece. The case is worn with scuffs to the leather and damage to the corners, the inner black velvet is worn to the edges with powder residue i places. The wartski stamp has faded and it just legible, the case closes secure.
