Lot Description
TIFFANY & CO - an early 20th century sapphire and diamond cluster ring, the oval sapphire is in a ten claw mount surround by Victorian style cut diamonds. Estimated sapphire weight 5.50cts, dimensions 10.3 x 8.3 - 7.55mm. Estimated total diamond weight 2.25cts, colour H-J, clarity SI1-P1 (several diamonds with external features). Stamped Tiffany & Co. Length of cluster 1.7cms. Weight 6.2gms.

Condition Report
The ring is in overall good condition. The sapphire has a medium dark violetish blue body colour with an uneven colour saturation. Strong colour zoning and windowing can be seen obliquely. A dark concentrated band of colour can also be seen to the other end of the stone. Several light finger print inclusion are visible near to the surface of the central table facet. Fine fractures/feathers can be seen running out from the girdle edge.
The diamonds are bright and lively. Some are drawing a slight yellow hue. Most are relatively clean. Surface reaching fractures can be seen to the tables of a few stones. Others have fine fractures within the stone.
All settings will need attention.
The ring has been re sized. The marks are visible. Ring size S 1/2.
The Tiffany & Co. stamp is partially rubbed.
The mount is unhallmarked. The ring mount and claws to the sapphire are believe to be 18ct yellow gold. The diamond claws are believed to be platinum. This ring has been rhodium plated. Area's of the rhodium have worn thin.
The sapphire assessed as natural with no evidence of heat treatment observed. Likely origin is Ceylon - unconfirmed
