Lot Description

A Victorian open face key wind silver pocket watch, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals bordered by a minute track with six o'clock subsidiary seconds dial, the case having a milled band and vacant cartouche to the reverse, hallmarked Chester 1892,  full plate movement signed A Marks Manchester, with English lever escapement and fusee, numbered 43032. With nickel silver Albert chain. Case diameter 55cm. Together with a Victorian open face key wind pocket watch, the white enamel dial signed J.G.Graves, the silver case having a milled band and vacant cartouche to the reverse, full plate movement with club tooth lever escapement numbered 385506. Case diameter 50mm.

Open faced pocket watch, key winding manual movement is not currently functioning, dial has a fine crack running from the 'X' numeral down towards the subsidiary seconds dial, dial also has various marks, hands show signs of light tarnishing, glass has yellowed and is scratched, case has scratches and marks as a result of general use, case is also tarnished, personal inscription to the inside of the back of the case.


Albert chain is showing scratches, marks and tarnishing to the whole consistent with general use, some links appear to be distorted, clasp appears to be be tight and secure and shows signs of heavy tarnishing.


Open faced pocket watch signed J.G Graves, key winding manual movement is not currently functioning, dial has various cracks and has noticeable marks and tarnishing, loss to the enamel at the bottom of the subsidiary seconds dial, hands show signs of tarnishing, glass has marks, case has scratches and marks as a result of general use, case is also tarnished and worn in places, partially to the band and the case back.
