Lot 16

Lot Description

A Belle Epoque French platinum sapphire and diamond pendant circa 1900, with a quatrefoil cluster of pear shaped sapphires and millegrain set old cut diamonds, within a delicate petal arrangement surrounded by rose cut diamonds below a similar surmount. With early French platinum marks. Length 4.3cms. This is a later adapted piece.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The pendant is in overall good condition. The piece may well have originated from a bracelet panel. Solder marks can be seen to the lower part of the pendant where the bracelet link may have been. The central quatrefoil panel is not original. One rose cut diamond has been replaced to the outer border of a pear shaped sapphire. The small removable suspender does not match the piece.

The diamonds are bright and lively. All settings will need attention. Light scratches and scuffs can be seen, in keeping with age.
