A 19th century garnet and split pearl brooch, lozenge shaped the central circular foil backed garnet within a split pearl surround surrounded by four square shape garnet with split pearl detail. Length 3.4cms. Weight 8.46gms.

The brooch is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The back shows some deeper scratches and discolouration. The pin is a base metal replacement. The garnets have minor-moderate facet-edge abrasion. One garnet is a replacement. The split pearls appear moderately well matched, some with a yellow glue-like substance and some possibly replacements.
