A Victorian ruby and diamond crescent brooch circa 1880, with a graduated row of claw set oval cut rubies and inner row of similarly set old cut diamonds. Estimated total diamond weight 0.60cts, colour H-I, clarity SI1-P1. Diameter 3cms. Weight 6.7gms. AF.

Condition Report
The brooch is in overall good condition. One of the end rubies has fallen through its setting and is heavily chipped to the surface. The rubies are well matched. They have a deep red hue. Minor nibbles can be seen to the surface of some. Inclusions and fractures are present. These can be seen under magnification. The diamonds are bright and lively. Small chips and nibbles can also be seen to some of the diamonds. They are bright and lively. Light scratches and scuffs can be seen, in keeping with age. All settings will need attention to check the security of the stones.
