Lot Description
A modern silver ashtray of circular form, hallmarked Goldsmiths Company Birmingham 1952, diameter measuring 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm). Together with an early twentieth century silver Asprey cigarette case and a further silver example. Gross combined weight 8.5 ozt (266 grams). (3).

Condition Report
All three items display general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. The ashtray looks to have been recently heavily polished but without being first refinished, the polishing has also caused some loss of detail, the recess of the dish also looks to have been cleaned with wire wool, numerous dints and bumps also visible, the hallmarks positioned to the underside are clear and legible. The Asprey cigarette case is hallmarked Chester 1918, the interior is gilded and this displays some general discolouration, a couple of shallow dints visible to the outer case. The second cigarette is hallmarked Birmingham 1934 and the case displays heavy tarnishing also with numerous shallow dints, the cartouche is initialled, the interior is gilded and displays general wear, the hallmarks positioned to the interior are clear and legible.
