Lot Description

George II silver cream jug of baluster form, frilled rim, leaf capped scrolling handle and crest and initial engraving to the body. Hallmarked Philip Goddard London 1743. Height including handle 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm), weight 3 ozt (94 grams).

The cream jug displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Further noticeable denting and pitting predominately to the underside of the jug, the feet also pressed inwards, causing impressions to the interior. Possible repair visible around one of the feet and the join between the handle and body. The interior has previously been gilded this has worn. The hallmarks to the underside are rubbed, only just legible.
