Lot Description

A cased set of four Victorian silver open salts of triangular form and each raised above three ball feet, with three matching salt spoons and one associated. Hallmarked Atkin Brothers 1883/4. Gross weighable silver 3.8 ozt (120 grams).

The open salts display general scratches, marks and heavy tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The case also displays general scratches, marks and wear, the clasp does not hold shut and the thread which would have help the spoons in place have been broken. The hallmarks are clear and legible. The fourth associated salt spoon has a shell bowl with a beaded rim and hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd Sheffield 1890.
