Lot Description

Victorian silver card case with scroll engraving and personal presentation engraving. Hallmarked Minshull & Latimer Birmingham 1896. Height measure 3 7/8 inches (10 cm), weight 2.3 ozt (73 grams).

The card case displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Slight concave areas visible to the body. The lid and body to the front left hand side do not sit flush, Minor dints visible to the corners. A small tear has become visible to the silver on the front edge positioned below the hinge. The hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's mark a little distorted. The engraving reads 'Presented to Miss Langford Brookeby the schoolchildren at Mere. on her 21st birthday.'
