The case displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  Some of these scratches are more visible in the plainer areas.  There is a little tarnishing, especially around the edges.  There is some minor rubbing and wear to the engraved decoration in places but in general it is still in good condition.  There are some minor dints in the metal.  The hinge is in good working order.  There are some contact marks and scratches to the inner rim.  Hallmarks are still clear and legible.
