George III silver and cowrie shell hinged snuff box with reeded border and initial engraving. Hallmarked London 1813 with the maker's mark IB. Length measuring 2 3/4 inches (7 cm).

The snuff box displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use, hairline fractures and cracks visible to the shell. The hallmarks are clear and legible, the inner base marked with the standard, date and maker's mark, the rim marked with the duty, standard, date and maker's mark.
