Lot 421

Lot Description

Early 20th century silver novelty pin cushion, modelled as an emu pulling a mother of pearl two-wheeled cart.  Hallmarked Adie & Lovekin Ltd., Birmingham 1911.  Maximum length measuring 4 3/4 inches (12cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The emu displays general wear commensurate with the age and use.  There are minor surface marks and scratches and heavy tarnishing but otherwise the overall condition appears to be okay.  The cushion is in good condition and has possibly been replaced.  There are various surface marks and scratches to the mother of pearl cart and also some rim chips, one in particular is quite large.  The hallmarks are clear and legible and there is also a lion passant mark to one of the wheels.
