Lot 422

Lot Description

Late Victorian silver novelty pin cushion, modelled as an owl's head with the cushion as the lower body, fitted with a suspension link.  Hallmarked Sampson Mordan & Co., London 1894.  Height measuring 4.5cm.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The owl displays general wear commensurate with the age and use.  There are minor surface marks and scratches and some loss of detail to the feather moulding, especially on the top of the head.  There is also a little bit of tarnishing.  The hallmarks and maker's marks are still clear and legible.  The suspension link is also struck with the lion passant.  The cushion lower section displays obvious wear and deterioration.
