Lot 498

Lot Description

The King's Emblem Pin, two silver and red enamel pin brooches, each displaying the Danish flag with the Royal cypher for King Christian X (1870-1947) to the centre, with the dates 1870-1940 below, the rectangular form surmounted with a crown.  Maker Georg Jensen, stamped 925 to reverse (one fitted with suspension chain and pin, the other fitted with pin only to the reverse).  Height including crown measures 24mm.  Very fine.

The King's Emblem Pin (Kongemoerket) was designed  in 1940 to commemorate King Christian X's 70th birthday.  The wearing of such a pin became a popular way for the Danes to display patriotism and silent resistance to the German occupation during World War II.
