A Victorian silver key wind open face pocket watch by J.N. Masters of Rye, the white enamel dial having black Roman numeral hour markers, subsidiary seconds dial to six o'clock, all surrounded by an outer minute track, the heavily rubbed case, hallmarked Birmingham circa 1897, maker's mark WE, with milled middle, engine turned design with vacant cartouche to rear, silver dust cover, fitted with an unsigned gilt full plate going barrel movement having partial chaton set train jewelling, ratchet tooth lever escapement, blued undersprung hairspring and bi-metal compensation balance. Case diameter 50mm.

Open faced pocket watch, key wind movement is currently functioning, movement is dirty and there are traces of dried oil in the oil sinks, the watch will require a service, dial possesses some chips to the edges, there is compression damage to edge by the four o`clock position, small hairline cracks are apparent to the centre and to six o`clock, all hands are present, seconds and minute hands showing pronounced tarnishing to the boss and tips, light scratches and small amounts of surface rust are also visible under an eye glass, traces of rodico have been left on the minute hand boss, glass looks to be in a generally good condition but appears to have been glued in, case is severely rubbed with scratches, marks and tarnishing as a result of general wear, hinges appear free of excessive play, movement hinge has wear to the corners, especially to the left side, bow shows scratches and is loose. Pendant button is non-functional.
