An early 20th century opal, split pearl and ruby gadfly brooch, circa 1920. The oval opal cabochon body to the split pearl wings and circular-shape ruby eyes. Stamped 15ct. Length 5.5cms. Weight 7.9gms.

Condition Report
Overall good condition, there is good play of colour to the opals showing green, blues, pinks and purples, and there is some surface abrasion/scratches. The ruby eyes show some minor abrasion. The split pearls are fairly well matched, there is some pitting and blemishes to most and a few are cracked. To the reverse there is some soft solder where the top legs have been repaired.
