Lot Description

A late Victorian tourmaline and split seed pearl brooch, circa 1890. The three circular-cut tourmalines within millegrain settings to the openwork split seed pearl surmount. Length 4.6cms. Stamped 15ct. Weight 5.3gms. One split seed pearl deficient.

The brooch is in overall good condition. The three tourmalines are well matched. They have a deep pink to purplish pink hue with even colour saturation. Minor nibbles can be seen to facet edges. Small light fractures and inclusions are visible under magnification. One split seed pearl is deficient. All are fairly well matched with a cream body colour. Minor blisters and blemishes can be seen to the nacre. All settings will need attention. Light scratches and scuffs can be seen, in keeping with age.
