Lot Description

A late Victorian diamond, turquoise and split seed pearl brooch, circa 1880. Of openwork design, the transition-cut diamond and turquoise cluster to the split seed pearl surmount. Estimated diamond weight 0.25ct, colour G-H, clarity VS2-SI1. Diameter 2.5cms. Unhallmarked. Weight 7.8gms.

The brooch is in overall good condition. The diamond is bright and lively. One turquoise cabochon may have been replaced. All the split seed pearls are well matched. They have a grey to cream body colour. Soft solder can be seen to the hinge of the brooch. Light scratches and scuffs can be seen, in keeping with age.
