Lot Description

A Queen Anne silver caster of baluster form with plain applied girdle, detachable pierced lid, crested, with bayonet fitting and scratched initials to the underside. Hallmarked to the underside only London, Britannia standard, 1706, maker's mark indistinct.  Height measuring 4 1/4 inches (11 cm), weight 2.49 ozt (77 grams).

The caster displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Solder visible around the girdle. Some minor dints visible. Small tear visible to the pierced lid also a repaired area. No hallmarks are visible to the lid, only to the underside of the body. The hallmarks are quite rubbed and distorted, visible as the Lions head, Britannia and date letter, remnants of the  makers mark just visible.
