Lot Description
A silver trophy for the 1938 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Morse Code, modelled as a horse raised on a rectangular ebonised plinth with flush inlaid engraved silver name and winners plaques. Hallmarked London 1938 and made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd. Maximum height measuring 14 1/2 inches (37 cm).
Morse Code was owned by Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Dealtry Charles Part (28 February 1882- 9 February 1961), trained by Ivor Anthony and ridden in the 1938 Cheltenham Gold Cup by Danny Morgan.

Condition Report
The Cheltenham gold cup trophy displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Remnants of old polish visible to the recesses. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
