Lot Description
Late Victorian silver and oak desk cigar cutter, the central rectangular silver cutter with press release action, the outer wooden frame with mounted silver border above a spreading rectangular wooden base on four runners. Silver hallmarked London 1883, maker possibly William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davis. Length of base measures 7 inches (17.5cm), maximum height 3 3/4 inches (9.5cm).

Condition Report
The piece displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. There are some deeper more noticeable scratches to the top of the silver cutter. The press release action is in working order. There is a very small corner piece missing on the silver mount. There are some cracks in the wood and various other surface marks, nicks and chips, especially around the edges. There is some wear and deterioration to the leather mounted underside. Hallmarks are clear and legible but maker's mark is partly obscured.
