Lot 274

Lot Description

Early 20th century Russian silver cigarette case, the plain rectangular form with applied gold coloured monogram to the front, with a cabochon garnet spring release opening to reveal a gilded interior.  Struck with the second Kokoshnik mark for St.Petersburg (1908-1926), also struck with initials AK.  In original fitted wood box. Measuring 10.5cm by 8cm, weight 239.5 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The overall condition of the case appears to be good with general light wear and surface marks and scratches.  There are some minor nicks in the metal in places and a couple of minor dints, especially to the corners. The hinge and clasp are in good working order.  There are some contacts marks to the interior rims.  There are also some pin marks from where the monogram has been applied to the front.  The struck marks are clear and legible.  There is some wear and deterioration to the wood box and silk lining but it is generally still okay.
